Poppy Seed Cake

Ingredients
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup poppy seeds
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 egg whites
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  1. Sift flour, baking soda, and salt together in a large bowl. Add poppy seeds.
  2. In a separate large bowl, gradually add 1 1/4 cup sugar to butter, mixing well after each 1/4 cup of sugar.
  3. Stir in vanilla a 1/4 cup milk to sugar mixture.
  4. Slowly add the flour mixture and remaining milk.
  5. Whisk egg whites until firm then add remaining 1/4 cup sugar and fold into batter.
  6. Butter and flour a cake pan then add dough.
  7. Bake in preheated oven at 350° for 50 minutes

Dust with confectioners sugar and serve warm 🙂
