Poppy Seed Cake
Ingredients
- 2 cups cake flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup poppy seeds
- 1/2 cup butter
- 4 egg whites
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Sift flour, baking soda, and salt together in a large bowl. Add poppy seeds.
- In a separate large bowl, gradually add 1 1/4 cup sugar to butter, mixing well after each 1/4 cup of sugar.
- Stir in vanilla a 1/4 cup milk to sugar mixture.
- Slowly add the flour mixture and remaining milk.
- Whisk egg whites until firm then add remaining 1/4 cup sugar and fold into batter.
- Butter and flour a cake pan then add dough.
- Bake in preheated oven at 350° for 50 minutes
Dust with confectioners sugar and serve warm 🙂
