Flour Tortillas

  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • very warm water
  1. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.
  2. Slowly add oil while mixing until it forms a texture similar to a rough crumble.
  3. Add enough warm water for the crumble texture to resemble typical dough.
  4. Separate into small round dough balls then allow to rest for a few minutes.
  5. Once exterior is mostly dry to the touch, roll flat using a wooden rolling pin.
  6. Cook on an iron skillet, flipping as few times as possible. Some burns spots are Ok.
