Sopapilla

Ingredients
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp fat
  • 1 1/2 cups very warm water
  1. Sift the dry ingredients into a bowl, mix well, then cut in the fat with a pasty knife or fork.
  2. Slowly add water until it forms a firm, dryer dough.
  3. knead well then let stand for 30 minutes.
  4. Roll dough to 1/8 inch thickness then cut into 3″ squares.
  5. Fry in a pan of deep, hot fat and serve immediately.

Garnish with honey and powdered/confectioners sugar.
